On Friday Hannah and I explored the Berkeley campus and found all of her classrooms for this upcoming summer term. I noticed that even the construction workers up here have Cal Pride. Check out this crane:
note the "go bears" banner at the top.
My friend and Berkeley Grad, Lani told us about how Berkeley does genetic engineering on the trees on campus. I think there's no other way to account for this tree:
or the little green and blue growth on that limb.
Also, there's a spot on campus right next to the famous bell tower where you can see the Golden Gate Bridge. I was very impressed with the campus.
you may think the color of my camera is a bit drab, no, that's just NorCal.
That night I rode down to San Jose to hang out with Guillaume, a buddy of mine from my RA days. I didn't really take any pictures while I was there, but he kind of looks like this:
his mom makes bomb hamburgers. they were tasty, I won't bore you with the details.
We had some of the best (and only) Taiwanese food of my life. after dinner and milk tea, we went back to the dorm and took pictures.
It was a lovely visit, really the epitome of why I decided to go on this trip in the first place.
After a good hang out, I headed back to Berkeley for the night. I got super lost a couple times on the way because NOTHING is marked well up here in NorCal! I actually pulled over and looked at my compass to figure out where to go. Ended up getting back safe after all.
So today after a lovely sleep-in followed by a chill hang out with Hannah and Lani, I took off with Mishka into the City (San Francisco is usually implied by "The City" in NorCal) to stay with Pat and Larry Morin, and their dog, Teo (again, probably butchering the spelling)
Old friends of the family.
Here are the views from their apartment in San Fran:
Beautiful, right?
Anyway, that's what's been up so far. I've had a long day, so I'm about to head off to bed. More to come soon!

As much as I have an irrational prejudice against California, I'm not gonna lie, NorCal looks pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Rachel is adorbs. Yay friends!
